CMS Manual Installation

Over this past weekend, I decided to uninstall my 1-click installation of  Joomla! and install it manually so I could have more control over the initial configuration settings.  After much struggling I finally got it to work.  The most difficult part for me was connecting FileZilla (an FTP, or file transfer protocol, client) to the server.   (more…)

Hello Joomla!!

We started class today by taking a look at what happens when someone tries to hack a Joomla! site.  Tim Krause showed us his site which got hacked last night (perfect timing for a good class example) and also showed us several different ways to prevent your site from being hacked. (more…)

My first blog post

So, this is my first blog ever which I created for my WDMD 346 class.  I will be making posts that are relevant to the topics we are covering in that class, and anything else that comes to mind.  I have about a year of experience in working with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 (another WCMS) from my job with UWSP Web and Media Services,  and I am looking forward to learning more about WordPress, Joomla! and Drupal.
